Dark Chocolate
Why is she addicted to
Something so bitter?
Why can’t she live without
Something so revolting in
Its purest form?
Simply because she was
Deceived —
She believed in sweet
Fairytales; she thought dreams
Could become reality. But life
Isn’t smooth, or sugary, or
Savorable; it’s an acquired taste,
A taste she didn’t expect.
It’ll be a while before
The love songs stop tying her
Stomach into knots; she’ll
Need some time before the
Daydreams stop throwing her
Mind out of reality.
All in all, she’s come back down —
She’s landed on her feet —
She’ll have better luck next time.
The dark chocolate’s bitterness
Lingers in her mouth, but it
Can only be sweetened, right?
